The Galvanized Sheet Gauge is based on the U.S.
Standard Gauge.

Each Galvanized Sheet Gauge Number is 2.5 ounces per
sq. Ft. heavier or .0037 inch thicker than the weight or thickness of the
corresponding U.S. Standard Gauge Number, regardless of coating weights.
